US PRESIDENT CONTACTS FIFA

World Cup 2018, World Cup 2022

Written by:

As the United States works on bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, an individual with much political sway has joined the fight. President Barack Obama has sent a letter to FIFA President Sepp Blatter indicating his support for America to host the event.

Early speculation indicates that the United States are the early favorites for the 2022 World Cup, with the 2018 event to return to Europe (England, Spain and Portugal are leading the hosting).

Disclaimer: This is not a political blog and we do not want to hear any arguments that involve political ideologies (this means you Erick). It is just significant that a US president is supporting a bid for the World Cup.

That’s fantastic! Maybe by then he will head up FIFA? (No, that is not a political comment- in fact it would actually appear misleading as to my personal views!) Just a comment on the foresight of someone who will be long out of office by then…

    2022 seems so friggin’ far.
